It’s Important To See A Professional For Regular Checkups.

Just like any health issue, the sooner a hearing problem is detected, the better. Research shows 25% of those aged 65-74 and 50% of 75+ have disabling hearing loss. Research shows that your hearing sensitivity impacts your entire quality of life, including your brain health. Did you know treating hearing loss early could help you decrease your risk of developing dementia AND help you live a more independent life? Dementia, Alzheimer’s and cognitive decline are conditions we all hope to avoid as we get older. A growing body of research has shown that hearing loss plays a role in our ability to stay mentally sharp.

What to Expect During Your First Visit:

When you make an appointment at our clinic, your audiologist will conduct a thorough work-up, including:

  • Case History: The audiologist will ask you detailed questions regarding your hearing health history and current lifestyle in order to properly understand your concerns and needs.
  • Otoscopy: The audiologist will look in your ear canal to check for ear wax and to observe the appearance of your eardrum.
  • Audiological Evaluation: The audiologist will perform an exam that tests how you hear different individual tones as well as speech sounds. This testing provides important information about your hearing sensitivity as well as the possible causes for your hearing loss.
  • Recommendations: The audiologist will explain the results of the evaluation and make treatment recommendations based on your hearing sensitivity and lifestyle. Our audiologists always strive to customize treatment plans for each individual patient rather than take a one-size-fits-all approach.
  • Hearing Aid Options: Our audiologist will use a thorough patient centered approach to help you with all your hearing aid needs. We will ask you about the types of sound environments you frequent,  which will help us understand the level of technology best suited for your lifestyle.  We will help you narrow down your choice of hearing instruments based on your budget, lifestyle and hearing loss.
